Basic Hypothesis: Some astrologers however wonder: when it is 7H40 pm in
England, it is 2h25 am of the following day in China. This hypothesis, that may make hardline chinese astrologers cringe, sometimes helps to get a chart that perfectly suits the studied person: it is the case for Princess Diana. The following analysis is largely based upon François Villée's work (see reference below). If the chart can be discussed, its analysis is made by a virtuoso, and gives us several valuable keys of interpretation of a chinese chart. Lady Diana's chart has then been drawn up for the 8th chinese Hour of the 20th Day of the 5th Moon.
Faced with a chinese astrological chart, one must begin by examining the Destiny House. First remarkable configuration: the presence of the energy King of the Stars, the most powerful energy of Chinese Astrology. Diana thus belongs to the Royal Group, the group of those favored by birth, the group of leaders, managers and key figures. But King of the Stars is neither *** (sparkling), nor ** (very shining), nor even * (shining), and as a result this magnificent energy does not radiate as much as it could. A good look at the different boxes shows that, in the decade 25-34 (years old), Diana’s life is greatly influenced by the General energy, another major star of the Royal Group. And this energy is in trine (i.e. separated by 3 boxes) with Palace and facing Dance, two other energies of the Royal Group: during that decade, Diana possesses the whole Royal Group and her life can be more brilliant. In the meantime, life is not cheerful everyday. Another indication is the presence of the star Aphrodite with the sign & that means "faint", "damaged". That combination is never auspicious. It sums up, in itself, symbolically, Diana’s destiny: Aphrodite is a planet of danger, belonging to the Martial Group (the Martial Group is then faint, which, once again, is not really good), but also of love, of sensuality, sometimes of debauchery, in short of problems linked with love. Diana, the star princess who dreams of true love but who, as some psychoanalysts say, « symbolically crashes herself against the pillar of english establishment » and takes refuge in a succession of unhappy love affairs... Always betrayed, never understood. The top-model princess who is careful of her appearance and of her image, the princess idolized by the crowds, like a rock star. It is well known now that Diana’s youth has not been happy. Her family indeed belongs to the english aristocracy and has considerable wealth, but the family climate is dreadful. Diana is the third girl and her father, quick-tempered and brutal, would have prefered a boy (he had then only planned a masculine first name... Charles). Diana is dedicated to the supporting roles, stuck between her two sisters, who are brilliant, smart and successful, and the youngest child, the much talked-about heir, the so long desired boy who has come at least, but who has not brought the family together again. The proximity of the princes of the royal family with whom the Spencers are very close increases the climate of (bad) fairy tale: only the cruel mother is missing. She will come: after a lot of scenes, disputes, sulks, fuss and violences, the parents separate, the mother runs away and the father marries again... Let us go on with the analysis of the Destiny: we notice the presence of Treasure (shining) and of Physician. This group is in conjunction with Tiger (shining), that belongs itself to the Jupiterian Group (Jupiter, Tiger, Parasol). This combination of the two groups, because of the way energies are positioned (see how to draw up a chinese chart), underlines a beautiful harmony between the heavenly stem of the year and its earthly branch. It is a sign of a deep and genuine compassion towards those who are in pain. Diana’s real devotion towards the underprivileged is well known. Once again, that combination describes her well: the star-queen who uses her glamour facet to fund the charity (her charm missions have successfully doubled the Red Cross profits). That happy and pleasant configuration is intensified by several factors:
The Friends House allows to analyze relationship with others: Laureate indicates high-class relations but Solitude underlines an emotional isolation. Cordon may mean love affairs with subordinates or friends. As this House has No Major Star, one looks at the major stars of the opposite box, the Brothers Box, where Motor and Moon can be found, « friendly and weak relations, indifferent and dull friends ». Particularly with this exceptional shower of harmful bodies attacking it, Nullity, Void, Armour, Fate, Crusher, Detriment: betrayal, lack of understanding, or even dishonesty. Let us finally note a factor explaining a difficult social integration: the presence of Seven-Swords and Virgin in the Vocation House in trine with the Destiny is rather unpleasant, especially when intensified by Punishment, Thunder, Cloud and Suffocation. The Children’s House is splendid. The Sun, at the top of its power (étincelant in the Yang Horse box), explains only masculine births. The elder is, a priori, able to become a king! Medal, Support, Flower, Power are signs speaking of success and popularity. The Sun is only attacked by Lance (which happily is shining, and thus less stupidly harmful)... Of course, there are Nullity, Void, Crusher, Solitude and Detriment in trine, in the Tiger box, but one cannot have everything! Her children were Diana’s only real happiness, and she used to turn into a tigress when their interest was at stake. Her real true, pure and shared loves (Flower)... The Parents’ House speaks for itself too: a well-to-do (Fortune), lucky (Virtue of Heaven and Luck) family, from an ancient extraction (Vitue of the Ancestors). But the presence of a faint Giant Gate indicates slanders, disputes, insults. The configuration Lance, Athlete and Receptacle is unpleasant and leads of course to the idea of a unhappy parental couple, victim of a lack of understanding and tearing each other apart. Widowing underlines the final separation. That box also symbolizes the decade 15/24 (years old), which was dreadful for Diana. It is in trine with Cordon, a sexual energy, roughly treated by Solitude, Widowing, Crusher, Void, Nullity, themselves attacked, in the Monkey box, by Armour and Fate. However, Cordon is harmonious with the Sun and the Moon, the two energies of the legal couple. This is what the young Cinderella is dreaming of, and she succeeds at first: union with a young (future) king and two nice boys. But life brings her back to (sad) reality, and the beautiful couple sinks in his turn into quarrels, jalousy and lack of understanding. At 25 years old, the decade changes and then corresponds to the Luck box. Diana, with General, possesses the whole Royal Group. The General, symbolized by an emerald out of its matrix, is moreover escorted by its favorite assistants that strengthen its glory: Eight-Seats, Three-Steps, Banner, Enigma and especially Steed, that means travel and triumphant tours. It is also to be noted that the Public Relations House, in Diana’s chart, corresponds to the Second World too, i.e. to the Second Destiny, a kind of new chance given to us after the age of 30. It is rather clear: in this chart, at maturity, public relations, travel, and foreign countries come to the fore. As this House has No Major Star, one looks at the major stars facing it, in the Destiny: King of the Stars, of course, symbol of brilliance and of radiance, and Aphrodite, symbol of fights and of problems connected with love. But what does the combination of those two say (page 385)? « Possible ill luck or problems abroad, risks of agression and death abroad... » And the axis Tiger-Mourning superimposed on the Houses Destiny-Public Relations corroborate this idea. At 35 years old, the decade changes again. Honest very brillant appears pleasant indeed. In the Real Estate House and in the Rat box, it often means besides that the native inherits a large portion, that goods are abundant (page 435 of the book already mentioned). But a faint Mars linked with Honest is extremely bad (see page 217 § 248): « premature or brutal death ». It happens in 1997, when the axis of the mobile energies Tiger-Mourning is exactly superimposed on the natal axis Tiger-Mourning. It can also be noted that the natal configuration Aphrodite-Tiger in the Destiny was already very harmful (see page 201 § 183): sign of accident (fire, electricity, car). The position of Cloud, Punishment and Thunder in the next box of course does not help. A last remark on the Union House... A brillant Palace
could be very auspicious. Speaking after the event
and noticing the presence of Beloved and of Benefactor,
one would like to say: it is through her marriage that
Diana can become the beloved and the Benefactress that
her destiny describes. The spouse is not a bad man, but
the configuration of the energies Waylayer, Worries
and Opponent has never made happy marriages...
