Astrology is not an exact science: even if it is based on very strict rules, and demands rigor and ability to synthesize, it also requires intuition, association of ideas, poetry and a handling of symbols, that cannot be scientific. Don't waste time in endless debates generated by "cartesian" people (whose resentment should be analyzed). Some Astrology fans, who cannot stand not being admired, seem to enjoy these fruitless discussions. One typical argument: " Skies have changed, what about your science?". They know nothing about Astrology but they claim that its rules have not evolved! Each practiced user still discovers and reinvents, with his own experience, several thousands of years laws, that are tested on others charts, and eliminated if the rest of the chart does not confirm it.
One thing is sure: Astrology is not justifiable in the eyes of the contemporary science. The abbot Mermet, famous dowser of the XIXth century, was ridiculous when trying to justify his art: "The ray R leaving the object O that re-emits to the pendulum P a vibration V which..." His speech was polluted by his concern for justification. Similarly, the premature conclusions of the professor Benvéniste on the memory of water have not improved the cause of Homeopathy. But don't forget that Lavoisier, founder of modern chemistry, refused to hear about meteorites because "stones don't fly". And that Descartes was not cartesian according to the recent meaning of the term: "God proposes.
Man, by his free will, disposes... Or again: "If Man is free, God isn't".
We should remember humility in front of Nature. Let us however hazard an explanation: the world we know is not inevitably the only one, it could be far more complex than we imagine it, and our role far more modest. Could the chart then be a signature of an invisible world, like the sand that visualizes the vibrations of a tuning fork? Why not? "If it's not true, it's a great find" said Alphonse Allais...
Astrology carries a
Tradition. Great spirits have been interested in it, you
will be in good company. Without having to go back to the
Middle Ages or to the Renaissance, when Astrology was a
major art used by Popes, Emperors and Princes, we find,
nearer to us:
Astrology is a very complete intellectual game. When every magazine enjoin us, for our own fulfillment, to harmoniously use our left brain, ruler of our reason and our right brain, responsible for our imagination and creation, we should remember that Astrology is the art of dealing with symbols, of inviting our intuition to work under the control of our reason.
A symbol always has several facets and allows to express the unknown. Each configuration of a chart is one and multiple: it can explain a character trait, at the same time predict an event of the life of the subject, and, for instance, teach us details concerning his father...
